Well I finally have a new card to share, it has been a few days since I posted. I got my cuttlebug in the mail (YAY) so I have been playing with that and you will see I put it to use on this card. I decided to go with a pink and red theme since we are nearing valentines day.
So without further rambling here is my latest creation....

I love how this card turned out. I used thicker dimensionals than I have in my previous cards so the cute little frog really pops off the page. The image is from a retired SU! set called Frogs and Flies. She is made up of 3 layers. I actually stamped 5 and colored with my copics, then picked my favorite 3. The first layer is the full image. The 2nd layer I cut the frog out only, and then the 3rd layer in just the frogs head and her hands holding the jar of flies. I used my Cuttlebug to add some cute embossing, and my sewing machine to stitch around all the mats. I think the brown polka dot ribbon adds a nice touch. The pink paper that I embossed is Basic Grey and I can not remember where I got the floral print red and pink paper but it worked beautifully on this card.

I received some MFT stamps the other day. I have already been busy creating with these so should have another card to share tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

First Challenge Card

It is cold and snowing here in Texas (after some 80 degree weather last week). The kids finally went to sleep so momma has had a chance to blog and work on some projects. Today was my hubbys birthday so we had a small celebration here at home, otherwise it has been a quiet day at our house.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post any of the thank you cards I made. I had already sealed them up to get them ready to mail before I remembered I needed to take pictures. I do have a new card to share with you however. I decided to try an SCS challenge. I went with SC203 because I really liked the quilted look

Here is the sketch

and here is what I came up with

I am still working on my copic skills so I colored the images with my copics (tough to do with such small pieces to color). The stamps are from a retired SU set call Favorite Friends. I used lots of layers and pop dots to get the images to pop a little. I used SU pastel chalks and a blender pen to shade the background behind the flower pot image. Last but not least I added a lot of stitching.

Now I am off to color some more images and maybe try another challenge. Happy stamping!

My first card

So here it is...my first official card. I have practiced a few but this is my first finished work. I love the way it turned out. I used SU frogs and flies stamp set and then colored with copics, the water is done with SU pastel chalks and blender pen. I added a lot of machine stitching (something I do a lot of with my scrapbooking) and I love the finished look it gives the card. I did a lot of layers because I love chunky cards with lots of layers. The frogs face and arms are also layered and adhered with pop dots. I wanted to give it a little bit of a vintage look so I used a Tim Holtz ink pad to give the edges a distressed look. So what do you think?

Now I need to plan my next project. Tonight I have to make some Thank You cards for my hubbys clients so nothing terribly interesting. I plan to make them pretty simple but will post pics tomorrow. The cards are already blank thank you notes so I am just going to dress them up a bit.

Oh and I ordered some MFT stamps from a fellow SCSer so I am excited to get those and start playing! Oh and I am still waiting on my cuttlebug to arrive...I am going to have so much fun with it!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

New Goodies

Well I got some more goodies in the mail today. I got my 2nd order of copics and some Stazon ink. I think my hubby is wondering when the packages will stop coming lol.

My collection of copics is growing, I have a total of 12 now woohoo!. I am waiting on 1 more package of 6 to arrive (I ordered it yesterday) and then I am going to try to be content with what I have for now. I keep looking at all these wonderful blogs though and see others using colors I just really need to have. One of the blogs I check in on a lot is Jen Muraoka She uses copics beautifully and even shows you which ones she used on each card. If you are new to copics I would highly recommend checking out her blog. She does amazing work!

I have practiced a little with my new markers on my froggy below. I am going to try to complete my card tonight which will have a frog just like this one as the center piece. So check back tomorrow for my first stamping creation.

Happy Saturday to all!

My first blog post

I decided to start this blog to keep a log of my journey into the stamping world. Although I have scrapbooked for a long time I have never stamped and am finding it is just as addicting as scrapbooking. I chose stamping because I was looking for something like scrapbooking that I can do on a smaller scale. I don't have a lot of spare time with 2 little ones and another one on the way and I found that I wasn't ever able to finish my scrapbook layouts because I had so much going on. Below is one of the little guys who takes up a lot of my time. As you can see, he can make quite the mess (he is 1 and into everything).

I also have a 6 year old boy and am expecting a little girl in May. With all the craziness crafting is my escape. I love to relax and create with any spare time I have (mostly when Kiddos are sleeping).

So I started my stamping journey by ordering some cute SU retired sets that I got a really good deal on (one being frogs and flies which I just love). I also ordered some inks, SU chalks and blender pens and some copic markers that everyone has been raving about. I only ordered 6 copics to being with as they are expensive and I wanted to make sure I would like using them. Here is my first attempt at a lilly pad from the SU frogs and flies set. I think I did pretty good and have now placed 2 more orders for more copics as I already LOVE them! I ordered a lot more lighter colors so I can highlight better.

I stamped the image with black ink it up dye based ink and it ran a little with the copics so after doing some research I am going to get some brilliance black ink and see how that does.

While waiting for my new copics to arrive I decided to try my SU pastel chalks with the blender pen. I quickly realized I will need water color paper for this technique as the CS I was using began to peel and I was not able to blend the colors the way I wanted. The chalks do give a nice effect though but not as bright as the copics. I will use them on occasion once I get some watercolor paper but think I will mostly be using copics.

I have also ordered a cuttlebug and am waiting for that to arrive. I already have a card started but have to wait for the rest of my copics to arrive to finish so will post a pic of my first card when it is done. Hopefully I will receive some more goodies in the mail tomorrow!

I have my eye on some Bella and Whiff of Joy stamps but will wait a bit on those. I am trying to take it slow and start with the basics. There is just so much out there I feel I MUST have!
